Susan Kahn
Co-Director, Founder
 
Susan Kahn received a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Houston in 1971 and an M.Ed. in the field of learning disabilities in 1975.  She received her certification as a Certified Professional Educational Diagnostician from the University of St. Thomas.  She was a learning disability resource teacher in Spring Branch ISD for six years and a tutor at The Individualized Tutorial Clinic, Inc. for three years.  She was the co-founder and has been the co-director of The Clinic for Academic Therapy since 1980, working as an educational therapist, educational diagnostician, and educational consultant.  She has made presentations at the Houston and International branches of IDA, the Neuhaus Education Center, and many schools and organizations.

Carolyn Hollrah
Co-Director, Founder
 
Carolyn Hollrah graduated with a B.A. from Oberlin College in 1970. In 1972 she received her M.Ed. at Boston College in the area of learning disabilities and special education. For two years she taught a self-contained classroom for autistic children at the League School of Boston. Then in 1974, she worked for the New York City “Evaluation and Placement” unit testing children to determine placement in special education classes. In Houston she began tutoring at ITC, a clinic for students needing individualized tutorial support. She received her educational diagnostician’s license at the University of St. Thomas after helping co-found the Clinic for Academic Therapy in 1980. She has given talks at various schools in the area as well as at the Neuhaus Education Center and at the International Dyslexia Association.

Caroline Christensen
Associate
 
Caroline has been with the Clinic for Academic Therapy since 1996. She earned both her B.A. in Literature and her Masters in Occupational Technology from the University of Houston. Caroline specializes in ADD and Writing Coaching, as well as working with students to develop effective organizational and study skills. Caroline offers comprehensive test preparation for the ISEE and the HSPT. She also consults with high school seniors on college essay writing.

Cindy Askew
Associate
 
Cindy is a Master Reading Teacher certified in Texas and earned her B.A. in Elementary Education with specialization in Early Childhood from the University of New Orleans.  She specializes with children diagnosed with dyslexia and other reading disorders and has been with the Clinic since 1993.  She will also be offering Parent Workshops beginning this fall.
