Summer Reading Workshops

Each of these one hour week long workshops will be assigned one of the books students have been assigned for summer by their various schools.

·       Students will begin by planning their reading by creating a schedule for it. This scheduling process will teach them a planning process they can use again and again future assignments.

·       The remaining time will be spent discussing the books’ components: characters, plot, themes, and vocabulary.

·       Students will learn to annotate and keep dialectical journals, as well as reading journals, to reference when school resumes in the fall.

These classes will be offered at both the beginning of the summer for those who want to get the work out of the way and at the end of summer for those who didn’t get the opportunity earlier but need some extra support.

This workshop is offered to both the middle school student preparing to take the ISEE or the HSPT and to the high school student preparing to take the SAT or the ACT.

Writing the College Essay

Essay writing can be scheduled for either a small group or for individuals.

Students going into their senior year in high school need to think about where they intend to go to college and part of that process is writing the impressive college essay.
Students will learn what is expected and be led through the brainstorming to get started on a winning college essay.

If you are interested in a workshop separate from the ones we offer, we will arrange it for 4 to 6 people.

At the conclusion of the initial 8-hour workshop, time can be scheduled for further one-on-one editing.
